A mechanical issue on an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Honolulu caused the jetliner to be diverted Tuesday to Los Angeles International Airport.
Flight 123 landed safely at LAX about 10:20 a.m., said Ian Gregor of the Federal Aviation Administration.
Firefighters were on standby at Runway 25 Right as a precaution, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
A cockpit indicator light alerted the pilot to a potential mechanical issue aboard the Boeing 767-300, which had 137 passengers and a crew of 10 aboard, said Martha Thomas of American Airlines.
The passengers were transferred to another plane that was due to land in Honolulu about 6:40 p.m., Thomas said.
The precise nature of the potential mechanical issue was not disclosed.
