While it sounded like bad fiction – “The case of the Palmdale skulls” – it was all too real.

An investigation was underway Wednesday into the discovery of human skulls in Palmdale.

The remains were found about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 2500 block of East Avenue Q-4, Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

The Coroner’s Office will examine the skulls to determine if there was foul play, said Deputy Trina Schrader.

The homeowner was using the skulls in religious rites, a detective told ABC7.
