A three-year investigation into illegal firearms and drug activities in the Antelope Valley has netted 18 arrests, authorities reported Tuesday.

The multi-agency probe was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“More than 50 undercover operations were conducted during the investigation,” said sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Stamsek of the Lancaster Station.

Authorities purchased or seized three dozen firearms, more than 500 Ecstasy pills, and about a pound each of methamphetamine and crack cocaine, Stamsek said.

The defendants face a range of sentences from five years to life in prison if convicted, he said.
