
An 18-month-old girl was abducted Wednesday by her non-custodial biological mother during a supervised visit at a Department of Children and Family Services facility in the Manchester Square Section of South Los Angeles, police said.
The child, identified as Sariya Ogbeiwi, was taken about 11 a.m. from the DCFS facility in the 1400 block of West Manchester Avenue, said Officer Liliana Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department‘s Media Relations Section.
The girl’s mother, 19-year-old Jasmine Kennedy, boarded a bus with the child, police said.
It was not immediately clear why the girl was in DCFS custody.
Kennedy is described as black, 5 feet 5 inches tall, about 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
