A 29-year-old man is being held in lieu of $1 million bail Sunday on suspicion of murder for allegedly stabbing a man to death at a family gathering in Palmdale.
Deputies responding at 8 p.m. Saturday to the 37600 block of Scomar Street on an assault with a deadly weapon call found that the victim, a 28- year-old man, and the suspect, Angel Garcia, were both attending a family gathering when they stepped outside and began arguing, said Deputy Guillermina Saldana of the Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
The argument escalated into a fight when Garcia reportedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim several times. The victim then went back into the home, where family members called 911. Paramedics rushed the victim to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, Saldana said.
It was not immediately known if Garcia and the victim were related, she said.
Garcia remained at the scene and was arrested by deputies from the Palmdale station. He was transported to the sheriff’s Palmdale station, where he was booked on suspicion of murder, she said.
Sheriff’s homicide detectives asked anyone with information regarding the stabbing death to call them at (323) 890-5500.
