A former chemistry teacher at Los Altos High School in Hacienda Heights pleaded guilty Wednesday to sex-related charges involving two female students.
David Park, 37, of Chino Hills, is facing three years in state prison and lifetime registration as a sex offender, according to the District Attorney’s Office. He is due back in a Pomona courtroom for sentencing Dec. 3.
He entered his plea to one count each of oral copulation of a person under 16 and committing a lewd act upon a child.
Park was initially charged Feb. 25 with having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student in 2014.
In a statement released shortly after Park’s arrest, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District Superintendent Cynthia Parulan-Colfer said the girl came forward to allege “that there had been an inappropriate relationship between her and a teacher.”
“The principal at Los Altos immediately notified the sheriff’s department to investigate and the district also began its own investigation,” she said, adding that the teacher was placed on administrative leave.
Prosecutors filed additional charges in April after a former student came forward with allegations against Park dating back to 2011, when she was 15.
Park, who is no longer employed with the school district, had also been a “walk-on” football coach in 2007 and 2008 at Ruben Ayala Chino Valley High School in Chino and Western Christian High School in Upland.
