A suspicious package received in the mail Monday at the administration building of Los Angeles International Airport resulted in some evacuations and a response by a bomb squad.
The bomb squad was sent to LAX about 8:30 a.m. About 11 a.m., the bomb squad rendered the item safe, and the evacuation order was lifted, according to airport police. It was not immediately revealed whether the item was explosive.
Airport officials said flights were not affected, but traffic delays developed around the facility. Also, because of the investigation, short-term parking structures 1 and 7 were closed, and travelers were advised to use parking structures 2 and 6.
