Pomona police made 310 arrests during the two-day hard
rock Dia de los Muertos music festival this weekend.
The Hard Day of the Dead music festival was held Saturday and Sunday
from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Pomona Fairplex located at 1101 W. McKinley Ave.
There were 148 arrests Saturday and 162 people were arrested Sunday, police
said.
Festival patrons had to show a photo ID to prove they were 21-years-old
or over to get into the show, which presented bands on five stages, including
The Strobe, The Bone Shaker, Hard Haunted Mansion, Esta, DJ Tennis, Marshmello,
Valentino Khan, Juicy J, Gastly, Glass Animals, Claptone, Boys Noize, Skrillex,
and Destructo, according to the festival website.
The age requirement was imposed because there were at least seven mini-
bars set up around the Fairplex grounds and police reported 50 of the arrests
each day were for fake IDs.
Other arrests were for offenses related to public intoxication, being
under the influence of a controlled substance and possessing a controlled
substance, for personal use or for sales, police said.
Ten arrests were made Saturday for driving under the influence on
highways near the event or in the parking lot, police said.
Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is celebrated throughout Mexico
and Latin America.
