The Los Angeles County Fire Department sent two Super Scoopers and a firefighting helicopter to assist in battling a 50-acre brush fire near the 118 Freeway and Princeton Avenue in Moorpark, a dispatch supervisor said Saturday.

The air support was immediately sent to the blaze, which the Ventura County Fire Department says is threatening structures in the area, according to LACFD Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims.

No ground personnel from the LACFD is en route yet, Sims said.

At least 180 firefighters were either en route or on the scene, according to Ventura County fire officials.
