Police Monday were hunting for the driver who killed a male pedestrian in the Palms/Mar Vista area with a stolen car.
The unidentified pedestrian was killed when he was run down by the stolen vehicle in the hit-and-run incident, police said.
It happened in the 9900 block of Venice Boulevard at Dunn Drive, said Officer Ed Griffin of the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division. The car was stolen from the area served by the LAPD Pacific Station. Investigators were working to determine what led to the hit- and-run accident and to locate the suspect.
The car was described as a maroon Buick four-door with a bicycle rack on it, Griffin said. It could have severe front-end damage from hitting the pedestrian.
The LAPD set up a command post at the intersection of Venice Boulevard and Hughes Avenue after the Sunday night killing, he said.
