An Orange (57) Freeway offramp was shut down in San Dimas Monday morning after a big rig’s fuel tank ruptured, causing a 100-gallon diesel spill, authorities said.

The spill was reported on the southbound Orange Freeway at the Covina Boulevard exit about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The offramp was reopened at 5:50 a.m. today, the CHP said.

A small amount of the fuel that spilled went down the drain on the offramp, the CHP said. The ramp was shut down so a hazardous materials crew could clean up the spill.

The truck driver did not know what caused the rupture, a news videographer reported from the scene.
