A former professional tennis player who was briefly married to the late billionaire Kirk Kerkorian filed a creditor’s claim against his estate seeking $1.3 million in unpaid child support.
Lisa Bonder Kerkorian, 50, filed the claim Nov. 23 in Los Angeles Superior Court. She is the mother of 17-year-old Kira Kerkorian and both she and her daughter claim the teen is the biological daughter of the casino tycoon.
Bonder Kerkorian, who is representing herself in the claim, states in her court papers that her former husband’s estate is liable for child support payments beyond his June 15 death at age 98 from natural causes. She says she was entitled to receive $100,000 a month from July of this year through June 2016, at which time the monthly payments drop to $50,000 beginning July 2016 and extending through June 2017.
The claim states the $100,000 monthly payments were made from July through November and that therefore the estate is entitled to a $500,000 credit, leaving a $1.3 million balance.
Bonder Kerkorian, of East Hampton, N.Y., was married to Kirk Kerkorian for less than a month in 1999. Kira Kerkorian was born in March 1998.
Kirk Kerkorian’s estate is worth about $4 billion. He denied during his lifetime that he was Kira’s father, but grew fond of the girl and decided to provide for her anyway.
Kirk Kerkorian had noted developments on the Las Vegas Strip, including the MGM and MGM Grand. He also invested in and operated businesses in a number of industries, including airlines, automakers, Chrysler Corp., General Motors and film studios. He purchased MGM Studios three times, bought United Artists and tried to acquire Columbia Pictures.
