A fire burned a bus parked behind a Baptist church in Burbank Thursday, and arson investigators were ordered to determine if the blaze was set deliberately, authorities said.
The fire behind the at 320 E. Angeleno Ave. was reported just after midnight, according to a Burbank Fire Department dispatcher and Burbank police Sgt. John Pfommer.
The fire department dispatcher said an arson investigator was at the scene Thursday morning trying to determine what caused the bus to burn.
“It was a shuttle bus that burned,” Pfommer said. “We also have an arson investigator that will go to the scene sometime this morning.”
The police arson investigator will be working with his fire department counterpart to determine if it was arson or an electrical problem that caused the fire, Pfommer said. There were no witnesses to the start of the fire, he said.
Pfommer said there haven’t been any problems with church fires in Burbank.
The flames threatened the church but the fire was put out by Burbank firefighters without damage to the building. No injuries were reported.
It’s unknown if the fire will be referred to either the House of Worship Task Force or the National Church Arson Task Force, both of which investigate fires at churches, synagogues, Sikh and Buddhist temples and mosques.
