Turbulent winds may have caused some electrical power lines to fall and ignite a fire at a single-story commercial building in South Gate Friday.
Although an official cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, firefighters were dispatched at 10:22 a.m. to South Gate Electric Motors and Industrial Supply, 5201 Tweedy Blvd., and they reported a 10:46 a.m. knockdown time of the fire, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
“It was pretty windy out there,” he said, adding that one point there was a brief power outage in the area.
No injuries were reported. A cost estimate on the damage had yet to be established.
