Two suspects were arrested for attempting to use a false identity while trying to buy a laptop computer at a Best Buy in El Segundo, police said Sunday.
At 3:55 p.m. Saturday, police were sent to Best Buy at Plaza El Segundo, 760 S. Sepulveda Blvd., and they detained a suspect. While they were questioning him, he ran to a getaway vehicle, which fled the immediate area, according to a report from the El Segundo police.
A Manhattan Beach police officer spotted the suspects’ vehicle a short time later, parked next to the Veggie Grill, 720 S. Allied Way, and detained the driver as he was walking away.
El Segundo officers arrived and spotting their initial suspect hiding under a parked car. Both suspects were arrested for suspicion of identity theft, burglary, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy.
One of the suspects was also wanted for an outstanding felony warrant for forgery in New York state. The other suspect was additionally charged with evading a police officer.
No names or genders were released.
