Police Wednesday reported a spate of automobile burglaries in Alhambra since the start of the new year.

Eleven vehicles have been burglarized since Jan. 1, mostly in the southeast section of the city east of Atlantic Boulevard and south of Mission Road, according to police.

Vehicles parked along main thoroughfares such Alhambra Road, Atlantic and Valley boulevards and Commonwealth, Fremont and Garfield avenues have been targeted, along with those parked in carports and in lots and structures at stores such as Costco, Planet Fitness and Tapioca Place, police said.

Police remind motorists to never leave valuables in plain view in their vehicles and never leave their vehicles unlocked.

Items should be locked in the trunk and, once home, valuables should be unloaded immediately and never left in a vehicle overnight.

Vehicles should be parked in well-lit areas, if possible, with all the windows closed.
