A knife-wielding man was shot and killed by police in North Hills Sunday.
Officers responded about 5:50 p.m. to the 8800 block of Norwich Avenue on a report of a suspect, armed with a knife, in the middle of the street, according to Lt. Kirk Kelley of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Valley Station, whose officers responded to the call even though it was in the Mission Station’s patrol area.
They were confronted by the suspect and an officer-involved shooting occurred, Kelley said.
The suspect was hit and taken to Provident Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, where he was pronounced dead, the lieutenant said.
No officers were injured.
The shooting was in a residential area, Kelley said.
