Police were searching Thursday for whoever shot and seriously wounded two teenaged boys on the street in Pomona.

The two 17-year-old youths were shot at Norval and Franklin streets just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to Pomona Police Lt. Chuck Becker.

The two victims were standing with another young man when a gunman walked up and began firing at the trio, police said. The suspect ran from the scene after the shooting and may have fled in a dark Honda seen speeding away from the area by witnesses, Becker said.

The two teens that were hit were treated at the scene and transported to a hospital. Their conditions were serious but their wounds did not appear life-threatening, Becker said.

A motive for the shooting was not known, and no description of the gunman was immediately available.
