A podiatrist who sexually battered four patients was sentenced Thursday to one year of sexual compulsion classes and ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Superior Court Judge Steven Van Sicklen also ordered Arnold Lee Serkin, 70, of Rancho Palos Verdes, to perform 365 days of community service, serve five years on probation and stay away from the victims, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Serkin — who practiced in Torrance — pleaded no contest Wednesday to four felony counts of sexual battery by fraud.
The charges involved female patients at Serkin’s office who were fondled and asked to disrobe during office visits between 2003 and 2009, according to Deputy District Attorney Maren Dermody.
Serkin claimed he was examining the rib area or measuring patients’ hips when they were inappropriately touched, according to the prosecutor.
