The La Verne Police Department Wednesday arrested five burglary suspects as the result of several phone calls from worried residents this morning.
About 7 a.m., La Verne police received a telephone call from a resident who lived near Via De Mansion and Hickory Drive saying that someone was at her front door turning the knob, seemingly trying to enter the home.
As police responded, they received another call from a resident reporting a suspicious vehicle. Then a third resident called, saying that someone was at their front door trying to gain entry.
As they rolled up, the officers saw a vehicle matching the description as well as a male walking toward it from one of the residences.
Officers tried to stop the subject, but he instead ran toward the vehicle which then sped off. However, it then turned into a dead end street and crashed into a parked car.
