A woman’s body was found near the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in Lancaster, but the death does not appear to be suspicious, a sheriff’s lieutenant said Tuesday.
The call about the grisly discovery near the 20th Street West offramp, was received about 10:35 p.m. Monday, at the Lancaster sheriff’s station, sheriff’s Lt. JustinDiaz said.
“The body was found in the bushes around that area,” Diaz said. “It appears the woman was a transient. And right now, it doesn’t appear her death involved either foul play or a crime.”
Diaz said his station was notified about the body by the California Highway Patrol. But he didn’t know how they learned of her death.
Her cause of death will be determined by an autopsy, according to the department.
Her name was withheld pending notification of kin.
