An investigation was underway Friday into the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a car while trying to cross the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Industry.

The victim, who has not been identified, was crossing the freeway in an easterly direction when he was hit just after 11 p.m. Thursday by a 2010 Honda Accord that was northbound on the freeway south of Peck Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

County firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, a 47-year-old Upland man, was not injured but was taken to a hospital for observation, according to the CHP.
