A young woman was shot and seriously wounded in a car-to-car shooting in the Pico-Union area, near downtown Los Angeles, a police lieutenant said Saturday.
The shooting took place about 10:30 p.m. Friday, near the intersection of Hoover Street and Venice Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Lt. Andrew Barboza, watch commander at Olympic Station.
“One female who was 18 to 20-years-old was shot in the neck,” Barboza said. “She was seriously wounded but she is in stable condition this morning.”
Barboza said it’s still unclear how the shooting occurred.
“The people in the car said, it wasn’t road rage,” Barboza continued. “But we also have a witness who said that something happened with another car. So, we still have to sort that out.”
Barboza also said police don’t know whether this was a gang-shooting, adding the people in the car that was shot at, did not have any gang ties.
Police have no description of the shooter or the car the person was in, he added.
