A motorist who was shot and killed on April 3 by a gunman in South Los Angeles while getting out of his vehicle was identified Tuesday.

The shooting attack occurred at about 2:40 a.m. on April 3 near 39th Street and Normandie Avenue, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter said the man was identified as Marcus Jason Fleming, 31, of Los Angeles.

Police said Fleming was getting out of a car when another vehicle came by, and someone in that car shot him several times.

Paramedics rushed Fleming to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, Eisenman said.
