A 48-year-old man was sentenced Monday to 15 years to life in prison for sexually molesting two girls.

Pedro Gayosso Luna, of El Monte, was convicted March 17 of two counts of lewd act upon a child. Jurors also found true an allegation of multiple victims.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert M. Martinez also ordered Luna to register for life as a sex offender.

Prosecutors said Luna sexually molested the two girls during a 17-year period.

In September 2014, one of the two told a family member that Luna had been inappropriately touching her, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

That woman called authorities immediately and also told law enforcement that she had been abused by Luna from 1997-98, when she was a minor.

Luna was arrested Sept. 2, 2014, and has been held without bail since then, according to the Sheriff’s Department website.
