Police Friday arrested three men, including one bitten by a police dog, after a four-and-a-half hour search prompted by a break-in at a home in Alhambra, police said.
The break-in took place at a home in the 1000 block of South Geranio Drive sometime shortly before 10:30 p.m. Thursday, said Alhambra Police Sgt. Richard Aguayo.
“We learned of the break-in about 10:30 p.m. when we got a call from the owner of the house, who was not at home, but was watching the burglars carrying flashlights and walking around inside his home by way of security cameras he had set up inside,” Aguayo said.
Responding officers saw three men rush out of the house and take off running, climbing over walls to evade capture, Aguayo said. Police set up a perimeter, assisted by outside agencies and a helicopter from Pasadena police. he said.
“Police located one of the burglars hiding at a nearby house about 1 a.m. after he was bitten by a K-9,” Aguayo said. “He suffered minor injuries from the dog bite.”
That suspect was treated at a hospital and placed into custody.
Aguayo said police got down to the last house they were planning to search when they discovered the other two suspects and took them into custody. The investigation was continuing this morning, he said.
“We have not let the owner of the house back in to take inventory to see if anything was stolen,” Aguayo said early this morning.
The three suspects were being booked early Friday morning.
