Sherman Oaks Home Invasion

Home invasion robbers struck in an upscale neighborhood Sherman Oaks, tying up a woman who freed herself and escaped, police said Wednesday.

The robbery was reported at about 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 3900 block of Ventura Canyon Avenue, said Sgt. S. Gottschalk of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Van Nuys Station, who declined to provide a first name or second initial.

The woman walked out her front door where she was confronted by three armed suspects, Gottschalk said. The suspects forced her back into her residence where she was tied up while they robbed her, he said.

The woman managed to free herself and escape to a neighbor’s house where she called police, Gottschalk said.

Police searched the area but the suspects were gone, he said.

It was not known what property was taken, Gottschalk said.
