Two burglaries this week prompted Buena Park police today to advise residents to secure their windows and doors during the heat wave.
Police have boosted patrols in the Malvern Avenue and Country Club Drive area because of the break-ins, according to Buena Park police Sgt. Mike Lovchik.

The first burglary occurred just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, and another occurred around 3 a.m. today. In both cases, the burglar broke in while residents were asleep, and it appears the suspect got in through unlocked doors or windows, Lovchik said.
The suspect was described as a man with short, dark hair and wearing a green, long-sleeve shirt and dark pants, Lovchik said.
The hot weather may have encouraged residents to keep doors or windows open, but police advised them to secure those passageways to prevent burglaries, Lovchik said.
Anyone with information on the crimes was asked to call police at (714) 562-3901.
