A man was confronted by three men in South Whittier and stabbed with an ice pick Wednesday, suffering non-life-threatening wounds, authorities said.

The 24-year-old victim was near the intersection of Mulberry Drive and Calmada Avenue when three men traveling in a dark sedan stopped around 12:50 a.m. and exited the vehicle to confront him, said Lt. Jeff Dusky of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

The victim was stabbed with an ice pick in the confrontation but his injuries were non-life threatening, Dusky said.

The three assailants fled in their vehicle.
