A man was in custody Wednesday for allegedly stabbing another man in Burbank.
Brandon Benavides, 18, of Burbank was arrested Tuesday night and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, said Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.
Benavides was being held on $1 million bail, and was expected to appear in court in Burbank on Thursday, Losacco said.
Police went to the 600 block of San Jose Avenue about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday on a report that a man had been stabbed.
“Officers located a 21-year-old Burbank resident suffering from multiple stab wounds lying in the street,” Losacco said.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Losacco said. His name was not released.
The suspect was arrested at McCambridge Park, 1515 N. Glenoaks Blvd., after officers went there “regarding a bloody man with a knife in the gym area,” Losacco said.
Detectives later determined that the crime had occurred in the flood control basin above Bel Aire Ball Field, 1750 N. Bel Aire Drive, and investigators collected evidence at that location, Losacco said.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Detective Adam Baumgarten at (818) 238-3210; or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
