Protesters decrying police tactics were ordered out from their encampment outside City Hall East after 36 days.

Officers told the protesters they had to leave or would face arrest for trespassing, and they complied Tuesday, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

None of the protesters were arrested in connection with the clearing of the plaza outside City Hall East, Lopez said.

The protesters were allowed to stay on the sidewalk, Lopez said.

Several dozen protesters, some chanting or carrying signs bearing anti- police and pro-Black Lives Matter slogans remained in the area on Main Street between Temple and First streets.

The demonstrators have sought LAPD Chief Charlie Beck’s ouster over officer-involved shootings and what they say is a lack of consequences for police who kill unarmed civilians.
