A locked bathroom door did not stop Azusa police from arresting a burglary suspect following a break-in at a home, authorities said Tuesday.
About 7:10 p.m. Monday, a man was seen smashing a window and entering the rear of a home in the 800 block of McKeller Court, the Azusa Police Department reported.
Officers several times ordered the suspect to come out of the home but he refused, authorities said, so they entered the residence.
Once inside, officers could hear the suspect moving around in a bedroom, according to police.
The officers went into the bedroom and found that the suspect had locked himself in a bathroom. When the suspect refused to come out, police went in and arrested Downey resident Shadai Elliot Alvarez, 24, on suspicion of residential burglary, police said.
