It may be a tough investigation as a man was shot and wounded numerous times in Lancaster Monday but refused to cooperate with law enforcement officials as they tried to find the gunman.

The victim was wounded about 5:25 p.m. at the Park Circle Apartments at 17th Street East and East Avenue J, but ended up in the 1700 block of East Avenue J-4, where he sought the aid of strangers, according to Lt. Derrick Alfred of the Los Angeles County Sheriff‘s Lancaster Station.

Deputies and firefighters responded and found the man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Alfred said.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was undergoing surgery, according to Alfred, who said the victim was expected to survive his wounds.

No details were immediately available about what led to the shooting or who was suspected of wounding the victim. Alfred said the shooting victim was being less than cooperative with investigators.
