
The Los Angeles City Council voted Friday to offer $50,000 rewards for information on two fatal shootings, and extended by six months the offer that has been made for information on the Teardrop Rapist case.
The Teardrop Rapist is wanted in connected with more than 30 sexual assaults on women and girls in the Los Angeles area dating back to 1995.
The suspect is described as Latino with a medium build and brown hair, and also with one or two teardrop tattoos under his right or left eye, which he may have attempted to remove.
The council originally approved the $50,000 reward in 2012.
One of the new rewards offered is for the case of 22-year-old Andres Guzman, who was shot and killed on Aug. 13, 2016, in South Park.
According to the motion, Guzman and a friend were sitting outside of his residence in the 900 block of East 47th Street when an unknown person or persons approached in a white pickup truck and fired several rounds at them from a handgun.
Guzman was fatally wounded, but his friend survived.
The other new reward is being offered for the case of 26-year-old Raul Alexander Sanchez, who was killed in South Park on Oct. 6, 2016.
According to the motion, Sanchez and a friend were standing on the sidewalk in the 700 block of East 46th Street when a silver vehicle approached them. An unknown individual then exited the vehicle and opened fire with a rifle, striking Sanchez multiple times and fatally wounding him.
All of the rewards are offered for information leading to identification, apprehension and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the crimes.
