Sheriff’s detectives were investigating the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting by Gardena police Sunday that left one man hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
The incident happened about 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Marine and Western avenues in Gardena, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez.
The man Gardena officers shot was hospitalized in stable condition, Navarro-Suarez said.
Information about what led up to the shooting was not released by authorities.
There’s no word yet as to if the wounded man was armed.
The investigation caused authorities to temporarily close Western Avenue between Rosecrans and Marine avenues.
The roads were reopened about 8:40 p.m., Gardena police said.
