A 71-year-old man was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool at a home in the desert Thursday on a searing spring morning.
As temperatures were expected to top out at 104, the death was reported about 9 a.m. at a home in the 46000 block of Ocotillo Drive in the upscale desert city of Palm Desert east of Palm Springs. The body was found at the bottom of the residential pool, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Newman said.
Foul play is not suspected in the man’s death, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Armando Munoz said. However, authorities had no information about the cause of death.
