
Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a brushfire in Reche Canyon, just north of Moreno Valley, which charred at least 17 acres, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.
The blaze broke out near the intersection of Reche Canyon and Smiley Boulevard about 4:12 p.m., according to fire department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

A total of 105 firefighters, one water dropping helicopter, four air tankers and 13 engine companies were dispatched to fight the blaze, Hagemann said.
As of 5:45 p.m. firefighters stopped the forward progress of the fire and the air tankers were released, Hagemann continued. Firefighters will remain at the scene for several hours to do mop-up on the brushfire.
No injuries were reported, Hagemann added. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
