The murder charge includes allegations that McKinney personally and intentionally discharged a firearm and that the shooting was committed for the benefit of, at the direction of and in association with a criminal street gang.
McKinney allegedly shot Aguilar after a fight that began at the party and continued outside. Aguilar died at a hospital.
McKinney was arrested Sunday by Pomona police, and has remained in jail since then.
If convicted as charged, he could face up to life in state prison, according to Deputy District Attorney Martin Bean.
