The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose 2.8 cents Saturday to $6.028, its highest amount since Oct. 7, 2023.
The average price had dropped slightly for the previous two days, following a run of 41 increases in 42 days. It is 5.7 cents more than one week ago, $1.227 more than one month ago and $1.105 more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 46.6 cents less than the record $6.494 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose 2.5 cents to $5.954, its highest amount since Oct. 5, 2023, two days after a run of 62 increases in 63 days ended with a decrease of 1.4 cents. It is 4.2 cents more than one week ago, $1.205 more than one month ago and $1.065 more than one year ago. The Orange County average price is 50.5 cents less than the record $6.459 set on Oct. 5, 2022.
Prices were rising slightly in line with seasonal norms before the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28 sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
The national average price rose 1.3 cents to $4.104, its highest amount since Aug. 5, 2022. The national average price is 12.8 cents more than one week ago, 90.6 cents more than one month ago and 83.6 cents more than one year ago. It is 91.2 cents less than the record $5.016 set on June 14, 2022.
