He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Metrolink announced that San Bernardino Line train 316 had hit a person on the tracks.
The eastbound train hit the man about one-half mile west of the Cal State LA Station, according to Ramon Montenegro of the Sheriff’s Transit Policing Division.
All trains share a single track through that area so the fatality caused major delays in either direction on the San Bernardino Line, Montenegro said.
Metrolink announced about 6:45 p.m. that the track had been reopened.
