
A red-light hit-and-run killer was being hunted by police Sunday in the death of a pedestrian in South Los Angeles.
A light-colored sedan going eastbound on Vernon Avenue ran the red light at Ascot Avenue and hit a man who was crossing the street southbound on Vernon within the marked crosswalk, LAPD Central Traffic detectives reported.
The sedan was last seen headed southbound on Compton Avenue and police were dispatched to the crash scene about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Paramedics rushed the pedestrian to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries.
