Authorities Sunday were investigating the death of a man who was struck by a Union Pacific train in Cabazon near the Morongo casino desert resort of Interstate 10.
There was no word from authorities if the killing was accidental or a possible suicide.
It happened at 5:42 p.m. Saturday near Main Street and Broadway, according to April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
First responders found the man dead when they arrived at the scene, she said.
Union Pacific Railroad temporarily halted train traffic in the area after the crash.
The identity of the victim was not disclosed.
