Los Angeles police asked for public help Friday to identify the person responsible for the drive-by shooting death of a Wilmington woman.

Monica Nicole Ruiz, 31, received fatal wounds at about 9:50 p.m. Thursday as she stood outside an apartment building in the 300 block of D Street, according to the LAPD.

While Ruiz was there a car drove by and someone inside the vehicle fired off a number of rounds hitting Ruiz, police said.

Fire department paramedics responded to the scene and took Ruiz to a hospital, where she later died. Another person also shot during the attack was treated at a hospital and later released.
