Funds were being raised Monday to help cover the funeral expenses of a 42-year-old motorcyclist — a married father of three daughters — who was killed when he crashed into a mountainside in Angeles National Forest near Pasadena.
The crash was reported about 1 p.m. Saturday on the westbound Angeles Crest (2) Highway, California Highway Patrol Officer R. Donoghue said.
Downey resident Marlon “Chris” Rivas was riding a 2007 Suzuki westbound on the highway when he lost control and hit the mountainside along the right shoulder.
Rivas was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rivas was a husband and father of three daughters — ages 9, 15 and 18, according to a gofundme page set up to help the family pay Rivas’ funeral expenses.
By Monday night, $4,270 had been raised toward a goal of $8,000.
“He was the most goofy man you’ve ever met,” Rivas’ eldest daughter, Heaven, told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. “He just loved to be with people.”
