The coroner’s office Sunday publicly identified a man who authorities believe was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash last month near a UC Riverside parking lot.
The man’s body was found at around 10 p.m. Aug. 23 on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard about 200 feet east of UCR’s Lot 30.
Riverside city police said Shawn Hooper, 31, of Riverside appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. The time of the crash remained unknown, according to a coroner’s report.
Hooper was not a student, and was most likely homeless, police said.
Authorities urged anyone with information to call Detective Greg Matthews at (951) 826-8724.
