Two people were killed and four others were critically injured when a motorcycle and a car collided Saturday morning in Santa Fe Springs.

The crash was reported just before 2 a.m. in the area of Carmenita Road where it meets the Santa Ana (5) Freeway overpass, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, which assisted in the call.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene and four others were taken to a local trauma center in critical condition, Dispatch Supervisor Ed Pickett said.

One of the people who died at the scene was later identified as Joseph Padilla, 32, of Downey, said Lt. Dave Smith of the coroner’s office.

“All the victims appear to be adults,” Whittier Police Lt. Bryan Ellis said. “Our traffic bureau is on scene and currently conducting an investigation. There are no further details available at this time.”
