Authorities Tuesday identified a man who was killed when he was struck by a passenger train while pushing a shopping cart near railroad tracks in Santa Fe Springs.

The crash occurred about 7:10 p.m. Sunday at Rosecrans and Marquardt avenues, said Lt. J. Tatman of the Whittier Police Department, which provides police services in Santa Fe Springs and is investigating the death.

Sheik Sanusi, 38, whose home town was not known, died at a hospital, the coroner’s office reported.

The Amtrak train stopped and train traffic was limited during the police investigation, Tatman said. The intersection of Rosecrans and Marquardt avenues was also closed to traffic. There were no injuries aboard the train.
