A 15-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle as the teen walked along Imperial Highway in South Los Angeles just west of the Harbor (110) Freeway, authorities said Sunday.
Andrew Anderson of Los Angeles died at a hospital of injuries he suffered about 2 p.m. Saturday on Imperial Highway near Van Buren Avenue, according to the coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol.
The motorist remained at the scene and was not arrested, the CHP reported.
A woman who was walking with the boy was slightly injured by the vehicle and was treated at a hospital.
The teen victim was walking across Imperial Highway near Van Buren Avenue at 2 p.m. Saturday when a 28-year-old female driver’s 1999 Chevrolet — traveling east on Imperial Highway at about 30 mph — hit him and the 37-year-old female pedestrian.
The 15-year-old was transported to a hospital and died from his injuries, said Officer L. Ballesteros with the California Highway Patrol.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor, Ballesteros said.
