Authorities Tuesday identified a teenage pedestrian who was killed when she and another pedestrian were struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Baldwin Park.

The driver involved in the crash was arrested. It occurred at 9:55 p.m. Monday in the area of Pacific and Vineland avenues, said Baldwin Park Police Sgt. Jorge Huerta.

Catherine Gomez, 17, of Baldwin Park died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

Paramedics took a male pedestrian to a hospital in unknown condition.

The pair were crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by the vehicle, police said.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, according to Huerta.
