A man was hospitalized after falling from a bridge in Banning Tuesday.

The incident was reported at 10:27 a.m. after witnesses reported seeing a man fall from a bridge into the wash area near 1455 S. San Gorgonio Ave., according to the Banning Police Department.

The man was found conscious and breathing by county firefighters and paramedics who responded to the scene, but the extent of his injuries was not disclosed. He was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for further evaluation and treatment.

Police have not commented on whether they believe the man fell accidentally or jumped from the bridge.
